Happy Birthday Aislinn!!

Today my baby is 10 years old! Hard to believe. I remember that day being very long and laborious (lol) and Aislinn being born during an episode of 90210 (it was a Wednesday night).

Now she is in the double digits and in 5th grade! This photo was taken at the Peach Fest. parade and it was rainy and miserable out that day. She walked with the K-kids group. We've gone from Teletubbies and Elmo to horseback riding and a Pokemon obsession.

Happy birthday my little angel...I love you!

Oops!!

Last night I called Aislinn's father to yell at him about a tooth brushing incident (or lack of brushing) while she was with him over the weekend. We're not talking just missing a night here...we're talking about possibly a whole weekend! I chastised Aislinn big time for not being responsible and then grabbed the phone to call her father. His wife (3rd) answered his cell phone, which caught me off guard, and I accidentally called her by his 2nd wife's name! I corrected myself but not before there was a slightly HUGE moment of silence (and a very long moment too). She laughed a little and the I asked to speak with my ex without apologizing for the mistake. I can't be bothered to remember the names of all my ex's wives since he's had two in the past two years.

Jamie heard it all and laughed so hard he almost fell off the bed!

Welcome Fall!!

The Autumnal Equinox was at 11:44:18 A.M. EDT today . I love this season. It has to be my favorite. This year I vow to go apple picking, decorate my house for Fall/Halloween, make apple pie/crisp, and do some fall cleaning (I'm sure Jamie is rolling his eyes while reading this). Aislinn wants to get started on her Halloween costume right away because it might take some scavenger hunting for the right pieces.

In other news, this Saturday the B-52's are perforoming at the Albright Knox Art Gallery and I am still waiting for my tickets to arrive!! I called Ticketmaster yesterday and I am supposed to wait until 48 hours before the event before I call again to see if I receive them.
Tonight we are off to a double session of horseback riding and then I am baking brownies for Aislinn's b-day celebration at school. Good times!

Martha Stewart Living

Today I went and did something ridiculous and totally unexpected yet I feel good about my choice. Maybe it's because I see the holidays coming (for a while yet I know) and need some inspiration for my new home. I don't know. Whatever the reason it's done and my free preview issue is on its way.

Where else can you get the idea of the day such as chilling your salad plates before serving salad to keep the greens crisp or the recipe for Boonilla milkshakes?

Precious?

MEG - Precious @ Yahoo! Video

I found this on isuwanee's blog this morning and had to add it to mine. Like she says, once you get to 1:45 it's all worth it. Definitely made my Friday in a weird way!

Herb Alpert

So Aislinn is taking trumpet lessons in school. I tried to convince her to stay with chorus but she really wanted to take an instrument this year and last year I told her that if she did well in school we would consider it for this year. Well she did well and I am holding up my end of the bargain. Right now her playing sounds like a wounded seal but with a little practice I think she has promise.

This brings back a memory of Justin playing his trumpet for Jeanine and I for the last time at his old apartment. I remember him playing like a maniac and then falling back into his closet exclaiming this was his last concert...lol!!

I am hoping that in the future Aislinn can play a little Tijuana Taxi for me!

More smiles

Here is Aislinn being her usual fun self last night right before bed testing out our new digital camera. Just gotta love that chickie!

Pretty

Over the weekend I potted some mums from Treichler's. They are huge (the picture doesn't do them justice) and only 4/$18.00!! They're garden mums as opposed to hardy but nevertheless at that price I can afford to replace them each year. The same ones at TOPS are much more and they don't have the selection. I would seriously check out Treichler's if you haven't been there for mums. I would love to be able to give a mum to all my friends and share that Fall feeling!!

Blue Suede Shoes...really

Ok...so I belong to a shopping boutique website that features different designers just about every day and the sales run for something like 48 hours or until all the merchandise is gone. The site is Rue-La-La and it's pretty cool. You have to be invited to join (I got an invite from another blog) and I'll be happy to send anyone who wants one. Just leave your e-mail in the comment section or shoot me an e-mail.
Anyway...I bought these blue shoes totally on a whim along with some purple flats that didn't end up fitting. I'm returning the flats but not sure what to do about the blue shoes. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the color and the style but not sure if they're worth keeping. They aren't all that comfortable either but I think I can live with that.

What do you think? Should I keep them or send them back with their purple travel mates?

Aislinn's sunflower

Right before school let out in June Aislinn brought home a sunflower seed in a pot that they planted for Pioneer Days. I vowed this year to get it planted and protect it from the rabbits so we would actually get it to grow. With the help of Fred and his supplies our little sprout grew into a magnificent sunflower and then proceeded to droop heavily right after blooming. Fred managed to get a pic of Aislinn in front of it before it really got bent over so we could send it to her teacher and remember how big this thing really got. You can view this monstrosity (sp?) when you pass by our house. It's nestled in between the aborvites (again sp?) that we have along our fence line. I'm very proud of our accomplishment this growing season but can't wait to chop the thing down!!

And we're back!!

It's been a long long time since I've posted and it's been a long long spring/summer but I'm going to make every attempt to keep up this time. Promise!

I've added a few noteworthy blogs to my site (or at least ones I find interesting and check on a daily basis) and if you come across any you feel I should add please let me know.

Gossip Girl is my new favorite show of all time. I know the new 90210 is out now and it's off to a slow start but I see potential there as well. However, GG just has that draw for me. Also True Blood on HBO is grabbing my attention as well. The main character Bill is played by Stephen Moyer who was also in The Starter Wife last summer with Debra Messing and played a homeless hottie. And all I can remember of Anna Paquin is her role in Fly Away Home with the Canada geese and a groupie in Almost Famous which I happened to catch yesterday somewhere on Direct TV. At any rate, I'm excited for the start of Grey's Anatomy and Heroes as well. Should be a good fall season!

But for now...we have 75 more days until the end of the Atlantic Hurricane season which is November 30th. We felt the remnants of Ike last night...lots of wind!
